Shit I’ve bought this month…

I have been pretty bad at spending this month. By bad I mean good. Ok I’m even confusing myself now. Basically I’ve been buying a shitload. But in my defence, all pieces that belong in my largely black, mostly casual wardrobe.

Let’s dive in babes.

1. Western mini satchel by River Island

I mean, how goddamn cute is that. It’s tiny in comparison to most of the beasts I use as handbags (I like to carry ALOT of crap and usually about 3L of water) but is a really great size for nights out or days where you can leave your tablet and blush palette at home 😐. I mean it’s no western Boy Bag (uuuuuuugh) or Lair offering but it’s a pretty bad ass next best thing and only £26.00 (not including the nice lil 20% discount code I nabbed before I checked out).

2. Vans old Skool from Vans

God I feel like a douche writing Skool but whatyougonnado? So this is actually my first pair of old skools and I am so excited to have them.  My go-to Vans are usually the sk8-hi classics but my pair are now at the perfect stage of being battered and bruise that they look so perfect with jeans and white sport socks but just not that great when I want to be able to pass trainers off as going out shoes (something I do pretty regularly). So I picked up these little guys.

I got Mat to lace them for me. For some reason he is so much better at lacing shoes than I am. Maybe it’s a patience thing. Maybe I’m just cack-handed.

3.  Badass ring collection from Dixi jewellery

So Dixi jewellery had the most immense January sale and I went all out. I now have 9 of the above rings in various sizes and all the matching necklaces. These rings have been on my (iPhone) wish list since I saw them on Pinterest a few years back but I could never quite justify buying  non-silver jewellery for more than a fiver. But then they had a sale….. I’m not a big jewellery spender as apart from my wedding ring I tend to mix it up daily and so never spent too much on one piece. I also have pretty tacky taste in jewellery and luckily most of that crap is usually pretty inexpensive ha ha!

4. Faux leather leggings from Zara

So my last blog-worthy purchase this month are these little babies from Zara

Truthfully I would never have bought these going by the images on the Zara website as they always seem to style things in a pretty unflattering way. Maybe just me. Anyways I saw a stunning lil’ youtuber showing these in a haul and I was sold. She is teeny tiny and said she should’ve maybe bought a S over her usual XS, so I decided to size up to a M to be on the safe side. Having tried them on I think that was a pretty wise decision. Especially if I plan on slightly bending my legs at all. To be honest, I haven’t worn these yet but I have a outing in mind where I wanna wear them so I might do a bit of a “trying on sesh” (what we call them in my house) with them first before I 100% decide to keep them). Watch this space.

So there are January’s big purchases. There were others but I’m sure nobodies remotely interested in reading about my new shoehorn (❤LOVE A SHOEHORN!❤) or replacement mascara.

I do have a few purchases on their way to me as we speak but we’ll save them for next month.

Adios amigos xxx

As simple as black and white…

Black and white is my colour combo staple. Yes, sometimes I dabble in a lil’ grey or even navy blue but other than my wardrobe is predominantly black and white. And most of it street wear. I don’t belong to a gang. Or own a skateboard. Or do a lot of sport so I suppose the term leisure wear would be more apt. I definitely do a lot of leisure-ing. So in honour of my favourite colour combo here comes my current black and white wishlists. Do not adjust your sets. There is no colour here….

1. The Beatles CDG striped long sleeve

£105.00 Dover Street Market

This little beaut would just glide into my wardrobe and make friends immediately. I see it with black carhartt dungarees and Nike blazers for a super cute “I may be in jail” look as for some reason this screams Elvis Jailhouse Rock to me….

2. High sweatshirt

£44.90 The Dudes Factory

Yes this is men’s but oh sweet lord is there any better feeling than being pretty much swallowed by an oversized black wrap of fleece-lined uggggghhhhhness. The Dudes Factory a.k.a my favourite shop on the entire planet specialise in simple bold black and white designs and this little fella is right on the top of my Christmas list.

3. Vans sk8 hi in black & gum

I only saw these on instagram the other day and my poor husband Mat has been tasked with the mission of GET THESE FOR ME (I’m not as demanding as I sound, promise). Currently only available on the US site these will be on my feet soon one way or another.

PS these also come in white and ugh pink.

PPS gum does not count as a colour ‘kay?

4. Carhartt anchorage parka in Sonora

£185 Carhartt

Now I know, this guy is all a bit Stay Another Day video but work with me here. I have recently bought the Anchorage in black (no shit!) and sweet jesus it is amazing. I live in the north where we have already gone well below zero several times this autumn but with this baby on your back you wouldn’t even know….apart from the fact you’re scraping ice off your car at 7 in the morning. So anyways, I am so in love with that jacket that it makes sense to me to want another one to, y’know, double my happiness. In all seriousness though, these jackets are so brilliant so much so we have just bought Mat the burgundy one. We look so niche on our little matchy jackety dog walks let me tell you.

Bad luck skulls longsleeve

£36 P&Co

I’ve never known much about p&co but when I saw Lucy Molloy in this badboy on instagram I became very very interested. No, I do not need another black and white longsleeve but hey…

5. Am I Demon Ringer

£25 Babe Cave

Sucker for that white on black ringer colourway but add Danzig and a “support your local girl gang” ethos and I am sold. Santa baby…

6.Carhartt WIP college sweater

£65 ASOS

I can almost feel how super soft this little monkey is just by looking at it. And this is my favourite ASOS model RN too. We’ll just call it fate.

7. Kids sk8-mid reissue V shoes

£35 (before discount) Vans

Finally we have what I think are the cutest little pair of velcro classic Vans. These are actually sitting on my desk at work waiting for me but I refuse to go in to work on a day off so they will just have to wait for me for one more day. So technically as I do not physically have them yet they can still be counted on a Wish List.

Mat called these “special shoes” because they have velcro but I don’t care. I will be there with my shoes on in a nano second waiting for everyone and their regular ol’ shoelace tying tomfoolery. The Velcro may have already given this away but these are in fact kids shoes  but they run up to a size 5 so, along with a 30% Black Friday discount were a bit of a bloody bargain.
I originally bought these for biking as the Duane Peters Alcatraz boots that I currently wear are becoming more and more fossilised each ride and are somewhat of a (tantrum-inducing-screaming-bloody-pain-in-the-arse) struggle to get on and off but the more I look at these the more I think I want to wear them with with black jeans or leather leggings, an oversized sweatshirt or a white tee and black denim jacket. Hell I should’ve bought two bloody pairs.

So there goes it. My ultimate black and white list. I think I’m going to do another post on my favourite black and white pieces in my wardrobe (i.e. the only pieces in my wardrobe) but for now there you have it. Thank you for reading and pleeeeeeass feel free to point me in the direction of your favourite black and white pieces. I seriously cannot get enough.
